Any good low back pain exercises?

Are there any good low back pain exercises?

I’ve just started golfing and my back gets pretty sore after 18 holes. Are there any back pain exercises or other home remedies that could help me get back in shape quickly?

I suffer from low back pain when I sit at my computer too long. Certainly the hot packs, cold packs, and pain ointments help. I have an infra red massager that helps as well.

It used to be that doctors recommended bed rest. However, it was found that the muscles just tightened up and it took longer to get over the pain. Now they are recommending light exercise and moderate activity to loosen up the muscles quicker. One exercise that helps is when you stretch your lumbar muscles by getting on your hands and knees with your hands under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. Let your head hang down and arch your back towards the ceiling and hold it for five seconds. Repeat 10 times or so per session. This is only one of several lower back exercises that will help.

Back pain exercises are meant for strained muscles and ligaments. If you have a slipped disc or pinched nerves exercises might make the problem worse.

Pilates or yoga will strengthen the core muscles, which support your lower back.
