Bad backache at 40 weeks and one day pregnant

Question..does it mean anything that I have a bad backache at 40 weeks and one day pregnant?

I’ve had a contraction here and there and woke up with a serious backache which I know could mean alot of things or probably nothing. Is this a sign of impending back labor? I don’t have any other signs of impending labor, but was wondering about it. It goes from my pelvis up my back and it’s a constant pain.

Regular labor can sometimes start with a back ache. If you are 40 weeks, I would say the odds are pretty good its just early labor coming on, and I wouldn’t worry about it being back labor until later on. Think back to when you had your period and if you had abdominal cramps and back aches you will be prone to having back cramps during labor whether or not baby is front or back facing. Congrats! You will have a baby soon!

You should definitely see a doctor, since this can mean that the baby is in a pre-perceptive state of labor, and can warrant a miscarraige in the future. It could already be too late, and the baby could very well be at the point of no return in turns of being saved.

    I’m sorry for your loss.

Yeh all my friends had a really painfull back the day before labour.Instead of normal backache you cant get comfortable with it and theres nothing you can do to stop the pain.Thats how you know its the early stage of labour.my friends got this with normal labours but it can also be a sign of back labour but it doesnt mean you will deffinatly have back labour.

At 40 weeks, I think it’s totally normal to have a backache. However, at 40 weeks, I would IMMEDIATELY call you doctor just to ask. It wouldn’t hurt. In the meantime, here’s a great pregnancy resource while you wait… ;-)

I would call your dr. Since it is constant and you are 40 weeks it could be back labor. Good luck & congrats :)

Likewise. Call your doctor. I had back labor with one of my babies because he/she (forget which one) was turned around the wrong way. Good luck.

I would say yes, you are probably in pre-labor! 40 weeks is full term and with the contractions added in, I’d say start getting ready for baby!! Congratulations!

It is totally normal to have backache during pregnany and only expected when full term, with reference to the comment below from philliphorrackus i think this comment is extremely out of order, back ache is perfectly normal when due a baby!
