Hi pcfan54,

If your pain is not too severe then it is likely to be minor. Your lower back is used almost constantly, so even if you only irritated a few muscles they don't get too much rest and hence stay painful for a while.

Before you do any exercise or stretches you need to know what precisely is wrong. Some exercises and even some stretches can make your pain worse rather than better. This is why back pain relief has poor success rates - people jump into exercises/stretches before knowing what is wrong.

But like I said it is likely minor and usually settles by itself within a few days. Lasting a few weeks means you need to look at your muscles and joints in the area and get them working better. You can do this yourself once you know what to target.

You can download a free diagnostic test at the link below, which will teach you how to identify what is causing your back pain. Then you can target those areas easily and remove your pain. Reliving pain is simple once you know what to target.

But don't worry it will ease soon.
Take care
Dr Graeme Teague

P.S The link for the diagnostic test is http://www.back-pain-advisor.com
