What kind of doctor treats backache/back pain ?

Can you tell me what kind of doctor treats backache/back pain ?

I have been having lower backache/lower back pain for over two months now. I would wish to consult a specialist about this condition I am having. Is an orthopaedic surgeon the person I should see or what ? Many thanks.

I would advise to go see a chiropractor who will better assess the situation.

An orthopedic surgeon will only be advisable to see if you require invasive surgery

I would try seeing a Chiropractor first, they can usually fix the problem without needing surgery.

My daughter (at age 15) has a compression fracture and protruding disc and is seeing a neurologist/orthopedic doctor today. I feel bad that I disregarded her back pain as long as I did thinking it would go away on it’s own.

I recommend seeing an orthopaedic specialist or a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist first. Most will do everything to prevent you from undergoing surgery unless it is indicated.

Chiropractors are usually the first place to look to for help, with the orthopedist usually being able to recommend one. If not, you can always go to a place similar to Chiro One or another free lance place that does that type of work.

An orthopedic doctor can treat your back pain however he may just want to make money and recommend surgery. I had a painful backache. It was a kidney infection. I took a prescription for seven days. No more back ache no more pain.

    A general physician treats it.
You should go to any general doctor.
