How can you help ease back pain while sitting?
Question about back pain sitting at work while pregnant..
I’m 20 weeks pregnant and sit behind a desk 9 hours a day, 5 days a week. My back is so sore every minute of the day, and every day of the week – even hurts when I lay down to go to bed. Any good remedies for helping to ease the pain?

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book if you suffer from any kind of chronic pain. Even if your doctor has pronounced judgement that he/she knows what’s causing things, try this book. As the author says, trigger point therapy should be the first course of treatment: it’s easy and cheap.

Stretch alot, get up every hour or so and walk around for a few minutes.
Yes, I too have been suffering through the same situation. I have two pillows that I position behind my back. Also, putting your feet up is great. A desk will usually hide a crate or a box if you place it under the desk and also, I take my shoes off while sitting at my desk. Other than those things, you can take Tylenol, no more than the dose that it says on teh bottle though- to ease the pain.
At night, lay on your side and put a pillow between your legs, this helps tremendously.
you can buy self heating pads that help with the aches. always check that they are not passing anykind of painkiller into your body though
I would get a lumbar pillow. It will go behind your back and help add support. I’m not pregnant but I have chronic back problems and I use one. I also use a special heating pad (it has a rice like substance in it and you microwave it to make it hot)…it works better than a regular heating pad.
I’m in the same boat as you. I also have what I call "wardens" that watch me when I get up to stretch my legs and relieve my back so, I have to limit how many times I get up. The only other suggestion I have for you that isn’t already listed is to get chair coushions if you can’t get a better chair. This really has helped my back and butt. I still suffer from soreness but at least it doesn’t last all day long!
I have a home made heating pad I use for the pain!! I am 35w4d pregnant and my friend made me a heating pad out of rice for my baby shower. I just put it in the microwave for 3 1/2 minutes and put it on my back, works wonders!! Try that
