How Long Before Labour Does Lower Backache Start?

Question about back ache at 34 weeks pregnant..

I’m 34 weeks pregnant and for the last few days I’ve been having lower backache, but not stomach ache or pains.

Could the backache be a sign of something?

Usually to make you feel better you should try to lay on the floor but on your back. my aunt and mom are both pregnant and they have to do that sometimes bcuz of the baby. nothings wrong its normal. that always happens when pregnant. if you have any other questions you can ask ill be glad to help. well got to bounce!!!!!!!!!! love precious

ive had backache for weeks! has been soooo bad ive had to just stay at home on the sofa – i couldnt go shopping anymore, i had to get my mum and fiance to go and do food shopping becasue i couldnt handle walking with my back! mine started about week 34 aswell. my midwife gave me a TENS machine when i got to 37wks as its then safe to use and it helps alot with my back ache x im 40wks monday and i still have horrific back ache lol!

you baby may have dropped and engaged into you pelvis ready for birth- common to happen about week 34 in first pregnancies…it puts alot mroe strain and pressure which can add to back ache! – but is no indication that labour will start anytime soon

Your back could be aching because your baby is growing rapidly. The added weight can cause strain on your back. Spotting and cramping is something you should be concerned about. Good luck, mommy!

Back ache starts 9 months before birth. I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Seriously though, back ache is a sign of labour, but it’s also very common throughout the last portion of pregnancy. Your center of balance is way off, and your straining your back more to stand up right.

Is the pain constant, or does it come and go. Contractions are not constant, and yes you can feel them in your back, the common term is back labour, and some women never feel anything in their stomach or sides, and get all the pain in their back.

I doubt you are in labour, but if you think you might be, or just can’t shake a bad feeling, call your doctor/midwife, if their job to tell you what’s going on, and you won’t be inconveniencing anyone.

    Good luck, and best wishes.
