    You could try

Physical Therapy — for providing pain relieving modalities like ultrasound and learning streching and strengthening exercises for back and abdominals.

Occupational Therapy — for analyzing your daily activities that may be causing or aggravating the pain and multiple ideas for modification of activities.

Chiropractic Treatment — for spinal manipulations if you feel the problem is deep to joints and ligaments rather than just muscles.

Usually a combination of these therapies, regular exercises and lifestyle modification if the key for getting rid of chronic pain. Massage chair is only for temporary relief of symptoms and yoga is beneficial if he is doing asanas specific to his back needs . Yoga can be very beneficial for back pain if done under good guidance or else has the potential to do more damage.

    Good luck for his problem.

MASSAGE THERAPY IS AMAZING FOR LOWER BACK PAIN!!! i AM A MASSAGE THERAPIST AND I CAN TELL YOU THE GOD HONEST TRUTH. I WILL MOST LIKELY NEVER HAVE YOU AS A CLIENT SO I CAN BE BIAS. LIKE ALL WHOLISIC MEDICINE THOUGH ITS NOT A QUICK FIX THING. IT WILL TAKE A FEW SESSIONS BEFORE YOUR FATHER WILL IMPROVE BUT THE CHANCES HE WILL ARE GREAT. I RECOMEND SOME SESSIONS AS A GIFT. KEEP THE RECIETS ( OR ASK FOR THEM SOME MASSAGE THERAPIST DONT GIVE THEM) YOU ACCOUNTANT MAY BE ABLE TO WRITE THEM OFF IF YOU CAN CONVINCE THEM THAT HE NEEDED THE SESSIONS TO PERFORM BETTER AT WORK.

I agree with the first poster…massage therapy, especially a deep tissue massage will work wonders!
