Chronic Lower Back Pain?
Question..how do I alleviate my chronic lower back pain?
I’m a 20 year old who hurt my lower (left) back doing a low row at the gym a few weeks ago. While the pain is never severe, its been pretty persistent and frankly, quite pesky. What exercises/rehab can I do to alleviate the pain? Help from physiotherapists or medical professionals would be most appreciated.

exercises to strengthen your back muscles will help but take it easy first
Hi pcfan54,
If your pain is not too severe then it is likely to be minor. Your lower back is used almost constantly, so even if you only irritated a few muscles they don’t get too much rest and hence stay painful for a while.
Before you do any exercise or stretches you need to know what precisely is wrong. Some exercises and even some stretches can make your pain worse rather than better. This is why back pain relief has poor success rates – people jump into exercises/stretches before knowing what is wrong.
But like I said it is likely minor and usually settles by itself within a few days. Lasting a few weeks means you need to look at your muscles and joints in the area and get them working better. You can do this yourself once you know what to target.
You can download a free diagnostic test at the link below, which will teach you how to identify what is causing your back pain. Then you can target those areas easily and remove your pain. Reliving pain is simple once you know what to target.
But don’t worry it will ease soon.
Take care

go see a local chiropractor
Hi there,
I have been in that same pain you are experiencing and it is not fun. Those darn dead lifts, we know they’re not good for our backs but we still do them.
Right now all I would recommend is ice for 20 min at a time every couple hours. Need to get the inflammation under control. Then get a hold of a good chiropractor in your area. Make sure this doctor is into health and fitness. I say that because sounds like you are and you want to make sure you guys are on the same page.
There are many things that could have went wrong during that lift or it could just be a flare up of an old injury that you never knew you had. See that happens to you young guys. So with a proper exam and x-rays the doctor should be able to figure that out.

ice your back for 20 mins ((lay on your tummy while icing) and take some 2-3 advils (ibupophren) not to exceed 800 mg!
Works for me every time. I have Osteo Arthritis… In other words, my L5 disk cushion has worn out.
My remedy sounds like it will take awhile but you’ll surely appreciate it in the end!
