What could cause pain in center of back behind shoulder blades

Question about pain in back between shoulder blades..

I have this re-occuring pain in the center of my back between my shoulder blades. It comes and goes. Mostly after I have eaten or in middle of the night. I thought it might be the start of gall bladder problems, but now I am not so sure.

Has anyone else had this and can tell me what it is. I can’t afford to go to the doctor unless I absolutely have to.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book if you suffer from any kind of chronic pain. Even if your doctor has pronounced judgement that he/she knows what’s causing things, try this book. As the author says, trigger point therapy should be the first course of treatment: it’s easy and cheap.

it may be gas or acid reflux ,even if you do alot of lifting during the you couldve pulled a muscle or you may want to get ur lungs checked,i know you cant afford the dr. but neither can i but last month i was having real bad chest pain i couldnt move foward, breath, laugh or even cry thats how bad it was i found out my acid problem was getting worst. you may want to call a consulting nurse to ask if its worth going to the dr. but in the mean while try a warm compress or a heating pad.

it sounds to me like you may have an ulcer. i recommend that you go see your family practice doctor just to be on the safe side.
    good luck and happy holidays

If it happens around when you eat it could definitely be related to the GI system, something such as the gallbladder. Does it happen more if you eat real fatty foods? You may be able to help alleviate your symptoms by not eating foods that are real fatty. It would be a good idea to get it checked out just to make sure. There are many things that can refer pain to this area.

This might be a case of Gastroesophageal reflux disease. Try some acid suppressing medications like "ranitidine’(this is the drug name, it may come under any commercial name). Take one tablet at bedtime. If you are obese try to reduce weight, but exercising will be fruitful anyways. Give attention to your sleeping posture , you should sleep in a manner so that upper part of body is slightly upright, use some more pillows. Drink lots of water. Avoid fatty, heavy meals, spicey foods, tea, coffee, aerated drinks, esp at night. You hvnt told your age, association of pain with exertion, appettite, or any other complaints. That would be useful.
