Relieve constant low back pain and sciatica?

How can I relieve constant low back pain and sciatica?

The pain is most severe in the anterior right sacro iliac area and raising my right leg is extremely painful. Thanks for any help as this has been with me for a long, long time.

Have you tried a chiropractor? That always works for me…sometimes they also do special water massages and shock therapy.

If you have a slipped or ruptured disc you need ot consult wiht a doctor. I have two rods holding my spine together and know exactly what you are going through!

Get into the habit of ALWAYS bending at the knees.

Heat/cold packs. Cold reduces swelling, heat helps relax the tight muscles. Alternate.

Start laying flat and work your abs! You need to strengthen the muscles to carry your body. Strong abs help a LOT.

Watch yoru weight – I’ve lost over 80 lbs since my injury and every pound gone makes life SO much less painful!

Medicate as per doctor’s orders but do NOT allow yourself to become dependant on meds! Build up slowly and don’t do things that you know will irritate your back later – I’ve done it and occassionally still do – and pay for it the next morning!

Get to a Physical Therapist – a chiropractor will NOT due if there is disc or nerve damage! Get a list of simple excercises and ways of getting the inflimation in the nerve down. Follow it like it was carved into your eyelids!

Take care – you have my sympathy.

    talk to an orthopedist
this is a kind of nerve compression and there are some good ways to treat that

Go see an orthopod. If it has really been a long, long time (i.e. greater than 6 weeks), then chances are this problem will not resolve spontaneously. Get a fusion or a disc replacement.

Well, in fact you can get rid of the problem.

Go for a manual one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. The spine is set straight, and the pressure on the discs is distributed much better so they can recover in some time. For mechanical reasons (pressure on nerves), also your pain will disappear then.

And it’s really worth travelling far – at present, the treatment is available in California and Europe, costing around 200 Dollars. Good luck!
