Sciatica is a painful, aching condition defined by lower back pain and is a condition generally caused by the following primary conditions:
Herniated Discs induces sciatica by pressure from a herniated or protruding disc on the sciatic nerve. A herniated disc is a disc that has been forced out by external pressure – from an accident or by continual pressure exerted by muscle imbalance. Piriformis Syndrome. The piriformis muscle exerts pressure on the sciatic nerve when muscle imbalances make the joints in the pelvic regions to be drawn out of place and altering the seat of the piriformis muscle, which then puts pressure on the sciatic nerve.
Spinal Stenosis is the narrowing or constriction of the space in the spinal canal causing muscle imbalances that tug at your hip and spine and cause them to become positioned awkwardly causing an irritation due to constant contact and pressure on the sciatic nerve.
Isthmic Spondylolisthesis is caused when a vertebra is displaced from its natural placement and begins to touch the sciatic nerve.
The above conditions are influenced by muscle strain or imbalance. A muscle injury can occur anywhere and it means that your muscle flexibility is reduced at that point and often there is pain of the initial injury followed by other sciatica symptoms such as pain, numbness, tingling sensation etc.
This could be a consequence of a more serious internal condition and it is essential to consult your doctor immediately and get the correct diagnosis as in rare cases -surgery could be necessary. Generally, the diagnosis consists of pain alleviating medication, analgesics and specially designed exercises that must be practised with regularity in order to obtain sciatica relief. These juices in combination are said to provide sciatica relief when drunk in a minimum quantity of 10 ounces daily. The addition of carrots and beet roots to this mixture is said to fortify the strength and taste. If you can’t drink the juice drinking celery tea throughout the day is also beneficial.
Elderberry juice and/or elderberry tea.
This is a known muscle relaxant and stimulant and is said to address sciatica symptoms.
Garlic and garlic supplements along with supplements of vitamin B1 and B-complex offers relief from aches and pains, aids circulation, is an anti-oxidant and can also provide the body with warmth and energy. Care must be taken to avoid garlic if you are taking any other medication like anticoagulants, if you have any bleeding disorders or ulcers and take the advice of your doctor before taking garlic supplements.
