Having had scoliosis for many years, I know how you feel. I live in MI and yes, this cold, damp weather does NOT help. I have found heating pads very helpful, especially wet heat, as well as lying down as much as possible. As far as any over-the-counter meds, try the Bayer back pain one. It has aspirin instead of ibuprofen and may help. I hope you have good support at home and can just lie in bed, with the heating pad, and let yourself feel better.

Your spine can get compressed and weigh down your body causing all sorts of aches and pains. There are a few things that you can try to help it. Acupuncture masks the pain but doesn't cure the problem. It's like taking a pain pill. The pain may leave but the cause is still there. Inversion therapy causes your muscles of your core (the hips, thighs, buttocks, back muscles and most importantly the stomach muscles) to stretch out. As they stretch the knots and spasms leave and when these muscles are all relaxed they loosen their grip on your lower back muscles, your spine and most importantly your pelvis, allowing them to go back into natural alignment. While this happens your spine decompresses and takes the pressure off of the nerve roots and this will relieve your pain. As they align this will cause your sciatica to vanish. It's like if your car is out of alignment it pulls to one side and screws up the tires, it's the same with your back. Inversion therapy will help align your spine much quicker and each time you do it it's like getting a massage and with continued inversion therapy you'll be pain and spasm free in no time. Read more info. and you can order your own inversion system at the link below. Hope this helps. An inversion rack or table can help you fix this. here is some more info. It helps me daily to cope with my back issues. Hope you feel better. PS GOOGLE: online health mart sciatica it should be the 2nd and 3rd hits and read all about how inversion therapy will cure this and how an Ez Up Inversion System that you can use right in your own home will be your saving grace!!! Please trust me, this will fix your pain, it has mine for 5 years now and even after I had surgery!!!

this is what i did before i had my scoliosis surgery & its really cheap and easy.

take a knee-high sock and put 3-4 cups of uncooked beans in it. Tie a knot at the end and put it in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds. If its not warm enough, heat it for a couple more seconds and if its too hot just let it cool off. Lay it flat on the couch or bed and lie down on it w/ your spine right above the sock.
Its pretty much a heating pad but much cheaper b/c you can keep reheating it :) hopefully this will help relieve some back pain.
