What should I do for my sciatica pain?

Question about Sciatica Pain..

I have been suffering from a deep sciatica (not sure if I spelled it correctly) pain for about two years. The pain starts at the top of my hip-bone, botton, and extends down to my quads. It’s my left side thats all messed up. Sometimes I can’t even walk from the pain. All that doctors have given me is pain medicine. Can anyone suggest what I can do to decrese my pain? Or does anyone know who specializes with these problems? I’m not sure if I twisted wrong, or if it might be a pinched nerve. I have no idea what it is but now it’s unbearable, please help. Thanks

i guess that ur pain results from compression of nerves at ur back"by spine"….and that goes to an orthopedician…
    hope thats helpful

You should go see a doctor who specializes in pain management. They can give you a spinal block that will relieve the pain.

I have sciatica too and the best thing I ever did for it was to go to a chiropractor. I have been pain free for 2 years. Also, you could try heating pads, and sleeping on your side with a pillow in between your legs.

I suffered from the same thing a couple of years ago and nearly went crazy. There were two things that worked for me. First…exercise. I don’t recall the specific web site, but just google sciatica pain and you should find something on it. Secondly, my problem was at its worst when I was driving my car. While shopping at a Canadian Tire store one day I found a seat cushion of sorts made for this exact problem…and it worked wonders. The cushion was actually shaped like a toilet seat, the idea being to support the sides but let the middle (spinal column) sag downward, and it almost instantly gave relief. If you can’t find a ready made one, it wouldn’t be difficult to devise something keeping the toilet seat model in mind. Anyway the combination of these two things cured me completely in about a month or so as I recall, and it hasn’t come back. Good luck with it.

First question, Does the pain in your leg get worse or better with sitting or standing. If it gets better with standing and walking try laying on your stomach. If the symptoms in your leg get better stay there for 10 minutes, then come up on your elbows. If the symptoms continue to improve in your leg or go away your on the right track. If the symptoms get worse on your elbows and it felt better on your stomach return to your stomach. Place an ice pack (if injury was within the last 24 hours) or a heat pack on the small of the back and stay there for 15 or 20 minutes. The goal in this treatment is to slowly increase the extension in your back. This will in turn relieve the pressure on the nerve. During the above process you may feel some pressure or pain in the low back. As long as the low back pain isn’t horrible and the symptoms in your leg do not get worse continue on this course. On the other hand if the symptoms in your leg get better with sitting try laying on your back pulling your knees to your chest (one at a time then both). Hold each stretch for 10 seconds and do 10 reps for each leg then both legs. Hopefully one of these activities can help. You should visit a Dr. for medication and additional testing to determine the route cause of the problem. Sciatica could be due to a herniated disc, spinal stenosis, degenerative disk disease and several other serious problems. I hope I helped. Good luck.
