Who can help me with Sciatica Pain relief?
Microscopic Discectomy SurgeryQuestion..
I am suffering from sciatic pain since last 6 months and have been advised microscopic discectomy surgery by my Doctor. Need to know the limitations of this surgery and post operative precautions. Any alternative and proven suggestions for pain relief are welcome. Is surgery safe and proven?

I wish I could give you a better answer than what I am abput to give you. But everyone’s body reacts different. But I have had Sciatica pain since last November. I have been threw PT. All the excercies they show you to do to help relieve pain. When that didn’t work I went and got the injections. Did that twice. When this didn’t work the doctor says surgrey. I was in so much pain all I wanted was relief so I did it. The surgrey helped with pain down my leg but not the pain I had and still am having in my left buttocks. After my back surgrey I had another 6 weeks 3 times a week of PT. By the end of the 6 weeks I was in so much pain I couldn’t even get up off the table. My last 3 weeks have been a nitemare. My pain is day and nite. So for the last 3 weeks little or no sleep cause I am in so much pain. I put ice packs, heat, Biofreeze on it with no relife. I take IBP for the pain. It does nothing for my pain. I have gotten to the point where I don’t know where to turn. This was a work related accident for me and I still feel like I am being punished. I realize that surgrey they could only so much for me but does this mean that I am going to have to live in this much pain for the rest of my life. Right now I feel like it. I am so tired from hurtin and sleepless nites. I don’t know honestly how much more of this I can take. All I want is to get my life back to normal again if that is possible. If you should have the surgrey that is of course up to you to decide. But I think that you should try all the other things before you take that step. PT or injections. They may be able to help you. Surgrey should be the last thing you turn to. But then again if you have the surgrey you may be one of the lucky ones that it helps. I sure hope you find the answers you are looking for and can get yourself back to good health and pain free. Good luck. Remember your always going to have that % of it not working.

hey! whoa, before you think about having surgery…take my advise and try a chiropractor.
I have sciatica (i’m only 16!!) and i’ve had only two adjustments and I’m already feeling a difference.
My mom waited 14 years, and her sciatica was so bad she couldn’t walk. In about a month of the chiropractor…she’s totally healed.
No joke, man. these guys are really good.
They don’t believe in surgery or pain pills and surgery should be the very LAST resort. Honestly, i think a family doctor/ surgeon is the last person you need to see for back troubles.
Take my advice, see a chiropractor. You won’t be sorry.
If you have faith in Ayurvedic medicines take together one tes spoonful of Aswagandha churn, Rasayan churn, and vanari churn and also consult Ayurvedic doctor to follow further.
Stretch the affected muscles. Don’t bounce, jerk or twist while stretching. Breathe normally through the stretching exercises. Your physical therapist or physician can teach you the most beneficial stretches.
I developed a bulging disc between lumbar 4 and 5 by running too much on the jogging trail. I’ll tell you what I did. You’ll have to decide what is applicable in your case.
1) My chiropractor recommended taking daily doses of 100 mg. of Vitamin B6. It strengthens nerves. I noticed an improvement in 4 to 6 weeks.
2) Aleve is a good NSAID medication that is sold over the counter.
The doctor can prescribe a stronger form of the drug in the name Naproxen. The doctor can also prescribe Tramadol which is a narcotic and good pain reliever.
Back ice packs are a good idea also.Usually they can be placed around the waist area for the best relief.

3) The lunge exercise is good for sciatic conditions.

4) I bought the Teeter inversion table. You can invert yourself partially
or completely for spine decompression. It feels great.
It costs a few hundred but I like it. Even though these are a little pricey, they really do work for spine decompression and was probably the best cost effective item I bought.

5) I purchased the Rebuilder 2407 Electronic Stimulator (information at the site below).
This product was intended for a variety of ailments including nerve damage due to diabetes but I found it helpful when the electrical attachments are placed slightly to the right and left of the spine where the bulging disk occurs. In my case, just slightly lower than waist level to the right and left of the spine.
I paid $699 for this (although they’ve reduced the price since), so it’s something to consider even though it’s a little expensive. I bought the more expensive model since it had the AC adapter associated
with it rather than just the battery (and so it supplies more power). It definitely makes you feel good when you use it at 7.83 Hz.
